Remote Online Notarization is the process of notarizing a legal document online using secure audio-visual technology. Instead of meeting in person, you connect with a commissioned notary through a live video session, complete identity verification, and sign your documents electronically.

Before the live notarization session, you will upload a valid government-issued ID such as a driver’s license or passport. You may also complete Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA), which consists of identity verification questions generated from public and private data sources. Some states also use enhanced biometric verification where available. These layered verification methods help ensure the integrity and security of the notarization process.

You will need a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with a working camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a valid government-issued photo ID. For best performance, use a modern browser such as Chrome, Edge, or Firefox

Most documents that require notarization can be completed remotely, including powers of attorney, affidavits, real estate documents, estate planning documents, and business agreements. Acceptance may vary depending on the document type and the receiving institution.

Remote Online Notarization is legally recognized in all 50 U.S. states and is widely accepted by lenders, title companies, attorneys, and government agencies. Universal acceptance, however, may vary depending on the document and jurisdiction. When performed by a duly commissioned notary following applicable state laws, a remote notarization carries the same legal authority as a traditional in-person notarization

Yes. Multiple signers may join the same remote notarization session from different locations. Each signer must independently complete identity verification during the live session.

Remote notarization platforms use encrypted audio/video technology, tamper-evident digital signatures, secure document storage, and detailed audit trails. In many cases, RON provides greater traceability and fraud protection than traditional paper notarization.

Once the notarization is complete, you will receive a secure electronic copy of your notarized
document. You can download and distribute it immediately.

Remote notarization is available for many signers located outside the United States, provided the document has a U.S. nexus such as U.S. property, legal matters, or business transactions. Contact us to confirm eligibility for your specific document.

Some documents require one or more witnesses in addition to notarization. If you have your own witnesses available, they may join the remote session. If you do not have witnesses available, the notary can often provide qualified remote witnesses for your session. Please let us know in advance if witnesses are required so proper arrangements can be made.

5. Your notary will send your notarized document(s) back to the party that provided them via a secure link
